Coomera Cup Report
Jones too strong for the Queenslanders.
Coomera Cup Report
Firstly, I would like to commend both the Paradise Radio Yacht Club and the Coomera Radio Yacht Club for their outstanding organisation and professional running of the Coomera Cup event over the weekend. PRYC continues to set the benchmark for hosting IOM events, and I believe other clubs could certainly benefit from following their example.
A special thanks must go to our PRO, Trevor Fisher, who once again demonstrated his commitment to the sport by giving up another weekend to officiate. Trevor, along with his team of assistants, did an exceptional job. His calm, professional approach and ability to manage the fleet—even in less-than-ideal wind conditions—ensured smooth and fair racing across both days. Despite the challenging light winds and tricky wind direction relative to the course, Trevor managed the situation superbly. The entire fleet would welcome his continued involvement at future events. Thank you Trevor for your time and patience.
Congratulations to Paul Jones on a very well-sailed regatta and a deserved win. The sportsmanship and general behaviour across the fleet were excellent, making for an enjoyable and respectful event.
The IOM class in Queensland appears to be in a strong position following this weekend, with high attendance at the Coomera Cup and encouraging registration numbers already for the upcoming Eddie Cowell Regatta. It's a great time for the class, and I’m excited to see the momentum continue.
