IOM Sailors Reset Calendars for State Championship

Gladstone5 September 2020

COVID-19 continues to affect our sailing calendar with the State IOM Championships rescheduled to the 21st and 22nd November in Gladstone.

The Queensland Government is due to review the COVID-19 Directives in early October when the original date for the event was only a few weeks later.  The QRYA offered the November dates as an alternative to place more time between the current uncertainty and the IOM event and the club unanimously agreed.

In this unprecedented situation the considerations are complex, they include the number of entrants willing to travel to Central Queensland when regulations can change and the issue of people travelling out of Restricted COVID-19 areas into other parts of the state.

November will now be a busy month for IOM skippers with the rescheduled South Queensland event just two weeks after the States.  The Gladstone venue is a very popular one and we expect a big fleet to gather there again this year. A Notice of Race will be posted on the QRYA website in October.

Mark your calendars!
