Queensland RC Yachting COVID-19 Policy Released

COVID 19 Update3 September 2020

The QRYA has developed and released a Policy to guide Radio Controlled Yachting events on its calendar.  The Queensland Government 'Industry COVID Safe Plan for Outdoor Sports' describes the role of State/National Peak Sporting Bodies to provide guidance.

The QRYA COVID-19 Policy describes the QRYA requirements for hosting Queensland regional and State level events.  As important is the opportunity for each club to apply the same documentation to their club activities.

Following the release of this document, several clubs have started to build their own 'Site Specific' documents underneath these overarching documents.  Paradise Radio Yacht Club (PRYC) had developed their guidelines last month and have now harmonised them with both the QRYA Poilcy and the Queensland Goverment Plan for Outdoor Sports.  They have decided to attach the Site Specific plan as Attachment 4, an elegant solution.

Other clubs are well underway to compliance including Moreton Radio Yacht Squadron (MRYS) who are hosting the Marblehead State Championship and Springfield Lakes Maritime Modellers (SLMM), but other clubs are also engaged already following the release of the Policy on the 31st August.

The one-page QRYA Policy only describes the expectations of the Association, the central document is the Approved COVID-19 Management Plan produced by the State Government.  If health directions change, the plan will be changed for us.

Currently any sporting organisation working to an Approved Plan can hold an event with more than the 10 person limit applied in restricted areas, as long as they comply with the Plan.  Of course clubs are free define their own limits for regular activities.
