Below is an extract of a letter the QRYA received from the Philip Jackson, President of the Lake Sampsonvale Water Sports Association on 20th May 2019, announcing a change in his association and our membership;

"At the Pine Rivers Radio Yacht Club (Inc.) (PRRYC) AGM on Sunday 5th May, 2019 it was recorded that the PRRYC would no longer exist from that date. This step by PRRYC was taken as a way of moving forward, having found an acceptable venue after the Lakeside Park closure.LSWSAlogo

All members wishing to continue remote control yacht sailing beyond the 5th May 2019 have become members of the L
ake Samsonvale Water Sports Association (LSWSA) in accordance with the agreement from LSWSA dated 5th February, 2019. This agreement was accepted by all PRRYC Members at a Special GM on 10th February 2019."

From discussions with Bob Worton recently this outcome has been very positive for the previous members of the Pine Rivers club and radio sailing in south east Queensland in general.  As you would have seen on the QRYA website, they have recently held a very successful A Class State Championships and the M Class fleet is very strong.

From the LSWSA website;LSLocation
"Lake Samsonvale is the nearest lake sailing and water sports venue for the Brisbane area. It is located in the pretty Samford Valley on the northern outskirts of Brisbane.

The lake is on the upper reaches of the North Pine River, about 45 minutes by car from the City and within minutes of northern Brisbane suburbs. It offers a great venue for sailing, rowing, canoeing and relaxed watching from a well-maintained clubhouse. A grassed shoreline gives heaps of room to rig, with direct access to the water."

There are well maintained permanent facilites with a club house and toilets and BBQs.  As part of the conditions of the relocation of the Pine Rivers club, the Local Council has agreed to construct a storage shed and floating pontoon for use by what is now the Radio Sailing Division of the LSWSA.  These structures will add to the already generous facilites at this venue.

Congratulations go to Bob Warton and the previous Pine Rivers club for securing such a magnificent solution to the situation they found themselves in last year when their Lakeside venue became unavailable.

We all look forward to sharing the water with you soon.
